GRANT FOCUS: Grants to local health departments to “work with other sectors in their community to stop youth violence before it starts.” The STRYVE program seeks to use comprehensive strategies based on the best available evidence, to reduce youth violence: 1) developing a violence prevention plan; 2) implementing appropriate programs and practices; 3) tracking and measuring capacity improvement; 4) developing an evaluation plan that measures project implementation; and 5) developing a sustainability plan. * AWARD SIZE: Four grants of $210,000-$225,000 are available. * ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS: public health departments (local, city, and county), or agencies/organizations permitted to submit an application on behalf of a state. * DEADLINE: May 24, 2011 (Letter of Intent); June 13 (Application)
